I first discovered the many of uses for hemp around 8 or 9 years ago in a small shop on Glastonbury High-street.
"In harmony with nature" sold Hemp seed in large bags with bowls around for you to taste them, seed oil , clothing, anything and everything made from or related to hemp.
Around the shop there were photos and descriptions of some of the processes involved in making the products, nutritional info of the seeds and some small shrine like set ups. people stood around reading , eating seeds, learning about the lesser known world of hemp.
I bought a bag of seeds and a copy of cannabis culture magazine, the guy behind the counter said "would you like me to sign it?" .............."sign it?" .............."Yeah I'm in it" . (here's the article ill post pics if i find it)
That guy was Free "Rob" Cannabis the guy responsible for "National turn yourself in day" he signed my magazine and put some flyers in with my stuff , we chatted a bit and then i left.
The first flyer i read was a seed list and growing instructions for medical cannabis, the next - more of a booklet - stated in bold ,right on the front ...
"CANNABIS IS LEGAL! PROHIBITION IS THE CRIME!"
The booklet told robs story , his struggle with the law, setting up the free medical marijuana foundation and its repercussions , his involvement in activism and a lot of info about human rights and prohibition.
Rather than go through the whole thing i have uploaded it here. (i hope its clear enough to read)
The next day i went back to the shop and collected petitions and more flyers to pass around, my introduction to activism. My second visit to this shop kick-started my enthusiasm for and confidence in reading , I bought Peter Stafford's "Psychedelics Encyclopedia" But that's another story, lets just say i love this shop which is now called "hemp in Avalon" .
So what do you think ??? Is Cannabis legal??? Is prohibition Human rights abuse???
